Ben Shneiderman – “Human-Centered AI”

August 28, 2022 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am PDT

Greetings People Centered Internet (PCI) Community members: Our next PCI Community call will be Sunday 28th of August at 11:30 AM ET GMT-5 featuring

Ben Shneiderman will be our guest speaker this Sunday 28 August.

We’re grateful to have Ben join us again and unpack highlights from his new book: Human-Centered AI (2022) – “The remarkable progress in algorithms for machine and deep learning have opened the doors to new opportunities, and some dark possibilities. However, a bright future awaits those who build on their working methods by including HCAI strategies of design and testing. As many technology companies and thought leaders have argued, the goal is not to replace people, but to empower them by making design choices that give humans control over technology.”

Background: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Shneiderman | “Ben Shneiderman (born August 21, 1947) is an American computer scientist, a Distinguished University Professor in the University of Maryland Department of Computer Science, which is part of the University of Maryland College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park, and the founding director (1983-2000) of the University of Maryland Human-Computer Interaction Lab.
