DR. CRAIG CORNELIUS
69th Annual Cherokee National Samuel Worcester Awardee
“For me personally it has opened doors to working with small and large language communities on six continents. It has also led the Cherokee language experts to join international efforts, such as UNESCO’s International Year of indigenous languages in 2019. I am so thankful, honored, and humbled by our work together and by this award. I want to especially thank the Cherokee Nation, and my friends in the Cherokee Nation translation department for accepting and encouraging our work together, have opened my eyes to a wider view of history, and enabled the benefits of technology for languages and cultures around the world. I’m happy to share this honor with others from Microsoft and Apple – a great example of support for the people and their needs! I also hope to continue connections with PCI and look forward to seeing you all again soon.”
Congratulations, Craig. It doesn’t get more Googley than this.
