This Sunday 21 May we welcome Ashley Anderson who will share work about Leveraging Text-to-Image AI in Design Research

Ashley Anderson is an advanced PhD candidate in the College of Design at North Carolina State University. “Leveraging Text-to-Image AI in Design Research” will cover insights from ongoing dissertation research, which explores the use of text-to-image AI within imagery-based interventions. Situated within an education context, this work centers on developing a novel stereotype threat intervention for Black students in the first year of engineering. The intervention uses AI systems like DALL-E 2 and Midjourney as tools for visualizing personally relevant visual metaphors with the goal of reducing the harmful effects of stereotype threat while cultivating a sense of belonging and identity.
