As part of WSIS' work on gender mainstreaming, WSIS Gender Trendsetters have been appointed to act as trailblazers and take action in strengthening gender equality. Each Trendsetter has chosen a specific challenge or pledge to advance gender mainstreaming efforts in the field of ICTs.

Bastian is an economist with 18 years of experience in various multilateral organizations focusing on decentralization, regional development, and public financial management. Able to undertake analytical work and research projects with minimal supervision and equipped with advanced knowledge of STATA and GIS applications. A team worker with experience in managing teams with different backgrounds and multiple priorities. Led the implementation of Public Expenditure Analysis and Capacity Harmonization (PEACH), a USD 9 million grant implemented by the World Bank to support subnational PFM improvements.
